Apprenticeships offer young people and adults the opportunity to
earn a wage whilst gaining on-the-job experience and skills that
lead to nationally recognized qualifications. In the 2009/10
academic year over 13% of Wirral resident young people aged 16-19
accessed an Apprenticeship opportunity. The Council's Wirral
Apprentice Programme has proved to be a huge success winning
national recognition and helping 313 people gain apprenticeships in
over 200 Wirral businesses since September 2009.
Wirral residents have access to a wide range of Apprenticeship opportunities at various skills levels in a variety of economic sector areas. The range of sector areas includes everything from engineering to hospitality and catering.
